Epic Care is seeking a Certified APP (NP or PA) to work full-time alongside our dedicated team of health care professionals in our medical oncology service line. Oncology experience is preferred but not necessary, we are willing to train motivated individuals as an oncology nurse practitioner. Medical Spanish, Cantonese or Mandarin language skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Provide hematology & medical oncology specialty patient care in inpatient and outpatient care settings.
  • Perform physical exams and patient observations.
  • Record patient medical histories and symptoms.
  • Create patient care plans and contribute to existing plans.
  • Order, administer and analyze diagnostic tests.
  • Diagnose health issues.
  • Detect changes in a patient’s health and change treatment plans as necessary.
  • Administer medicines and treatments.
  • Evaluate responses to treatments and medications.
  • Consult with healthcare professionals, participate in tumor boards.
  • Train patients and families on managing illnesses or injuries and disease prevention.

Qualifications

Requirements: 

  • Oncology experience is preferred but not required. Appropriate degree from an accredited program.
  • Must have an active NP and PA licensure in the state of California.
  • Must have prescriptive authorization, active DEA license.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese or other language is preferred.
  • Must be proficient with medical instruments and equipment required by the work.
  • Knowledge of computer-based data management programs and information systems, as well as electronic medical records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in verbal and written form, with medical partners at various levels, patients, family members, physicians and representatives of the community.
  • Sound understanding of all federal and state regulations including HIPAA and OSHA.

Job Description The UCSF Neurology Program seeks a full time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to help support our program. Our Neurology program is nationally known for cutting edge Neurology support in both the outpatient and inpatient setting and offers a variety of support systems (long-term and short-term). The APP will care for patients on the inpatient Neurology services at UCSF, Division of Neurology. Specific duties will include rounding with the inpatient team, answering pages from nurses, writing orders, writing notes (admit H and P, discharge summaries, significant event), evaluation and management of patients and working with care team members for discharges. Will also include evaluation and management for recently discharged patients as they are establishing outpatient care. This job will provide opportunity to gain skills in evaluating neurological patients, perform neurological examinations and manage neurology conditions as part of a team-based care model. Responsibilities Participate in managing hospitalized patients in the ICU and floor settings, coordinating with other team members. Hospital Setting: The APP rounds and is authorized to: Examine patients Record subjective and objective findings in the patient chart and report findings to the physician. The psychiatric nurse practitioners will be performing evaluations, placing and releasing legal holds, serving as both consultative and direct patient care role. Evaluating the need for inpatient hospitalization and assisting with dispositioning and after care needs. Responsibilities Work with physicians/surgeons/APP colleagues and other clinical and administrative staff to ensure efficient patient management based on accepted practice, including but not limited to, taking histories, performing physical examinations, peri-operative planning/coordinating with outside providers and primary care providers (PCPs) as applicable, responding to changes in patient status, providing prescriptions/evaluations/referrals, diagnostic tests/treatments as permitted under core privileges and standardized procedures. Job Description UCSF nurse practitioners (NPs) are advanced practice providers (APPs) who possess the education, national board certification, California licensure, knowledge, clinical skills, and experience necessary to provide evidence-based patient care in their area of clinical practice. They provide routine, acute, critical, and specialty care as defined by their granted privileges/standardized procedures. These may include performing non-invasive or invasive procedures and operative first assist. The NPII will work as part of a Team at the Parnassus location within the UCSF Department of Radiation Oncology in a multidisciplinary environment working with Radiation Oncologists, Residents, Registered Nurses, Medical Physicists, Radiation Therapists, Dieticians, and Social Workers in collaboration with referring medical oncologists and surgeons. The NPII reports to and is managed by an APP Manager while working under the supervision of Faculty/Attending Providers. The patient populations may vary but will focus primarily on Solid Tumor cancers. The incumbent will provide care to patients including taking histories; conducting physical exams; document findings and actions as indicated, complex wound care within the department and assist with planning of the course of patients’ treatments for adult populations. The NPII will perform site-specific patient teaching; prepare patients for simulation; may assist with contouring structures for treatment planning; medicate patients as needed; order medications for symptom relief; assist in managing patients in follow-up; and address quality of life issues not limited to skin/wound care, speech/swallowing, adequate nutritional intake; and psycho-social issues.
