Scope of Work
The Vascular Access RN is a preferred bachelor's prepared RN who demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills in the care of patients requiring difficult/advanced IV access. The Vascular Access RN places ultrasound guided PIV, PICC lines and extended dwell peripheral IV catheters. The Vascular Access Team monitors and maintains; troubleshoots, declots, and repositions these vascular access devices for all adult inpatient units. Additionally, the RN monitors quality metrics related to vascular access devices.

Qualifications

  • Required Associate's Degree or equivalent Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an associate’s degree or equivalent.
  • Required Bachelor's Degree B.S.N., or M.S.N, or DNP/PhD - if not minimum BSN prepared, new graduate/nurse with less than one (1) year experience is required to enroll in an accredited BSN program within one (1) year of licensure date and complete within five (5) years, required. This is effective April 18, 2023.
  • Required Graduates from non-accredited school of nursing programs must have at least one year of acute care experience or greater than 2 years of experience in a licensed health care role, such as an LPN or EMT role, etc., and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.

Background Screening Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
