Under the supervision of the designated supervisor and assigned physician, performs duties associated with direct patient care and clinical direction to provide patient care given in accordance with the organization standards. AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from a Medical Assistant program required.
Current certification in medical assisting required from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), and/or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC).
Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required.
Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists provider by rooming patient, documenting signs/symptoms, obtaining blood pressure, weight and temperature as pertinent. Completes medical history forms. Performs set-up for procedures and assists provider with procedures, which may include performing dressing changes, ear washes, catheterizations, removing sutures and staples, removing castings, breathing treatments, assisting with cast application and DME fittings, EKG’s, urinalyses, strep, flu, pregnancy tests, and some injections as directed by the provider and dependent upon the providers’ specialty. Schedules tests, radiology exams and appointments with specialists as requested by the provider and/or patients. Enters all information pertaining to check-in/check-out as necessary in an appropriate manner in the EMR. Performs prior authorizations as required. Notifies office referral specialist when insurance referral is required. Assists provider with office exams, obtaining height, weight, BMI and other pertinent information as required.
