Expected pay for this position is $27.26 - $38.48/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.


 

Shift Differentials:

  • 3rd shift - $2.75/hour
  • Weekend - $2.50/hour
  • On-Call Pay - $3.00/hour (time-and-a-half of base rate if called in)

 

 

 


Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Surgical Tech works under the supervision and delegatory authority of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. The surgical tech recognizes significant conditions and reactions of the patient and notifies the appropriate patient care team as necessary.


Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Surgical Technologist I:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED; requires completion of a Surgical Tech program with the ability to sit for certification OR 2 years minimum working in a Surgical Tech role.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a Surgical Technologist/Technician role if completion of a Surgical tech program has not been completed.
  • Licensure/Certification: American Heart Association CPR (BLS)
  • Other Skills/Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented. Requires intra-operative orientation to learn department/unit policies, procedures and work routines; to develop competency in the use of medical equipment and instruments used in the procedure/operating room; to learn quality/safety standards; and to gain an understanding of the various types of surgical procedures within their service line.

 

Surgical Technologist II:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED; requires completion of a Surgical Tech program and Surgical Technologist Certification with a minimum of 3 years working in a Surgical Tech role OR minimum 5 years working in a Surgical Tech role.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in Surgical Technologist role if certified. Minimum of 5 years in Surgical Technologist role if not certified.
  • Licensure/Certification: American Heart Association CPR (BLS), Surgical Technologist Certification or 5 years or more in a Surgical Technologist role.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Surgical Technologist I & II:

  • Licensure/Certification: Certification in Surgical Technology
