Purpose of this position:

The purpose of this position is to reduce risk to organization related to patient/resident care. The Unit Nurse Manager will be responsible for assisting with the oversight of the nursing staff in addition to admission evaluation and planning, discharge documentation and maintaining the highest level of resident care.

Essential Job Functions:

Ensure that the unit operates efficiently, meets its goals, manages resources effectively, and coordinates with other units or departments as needed.
Lead staff in delivering exceptional care to residents and support to their family members.
Maintain resident records according to State and Federal guidelines.
Help to maintain and restore health of resident.
Acts as a main point of contact between residents and their families.
Addresses and assist in preventing concerns from family members.
Assists in developing, implementing, and making adjustments to patient care plans as needed.
Supervises, counsels, and provides discipline, when necessary, to nurse staff to ensure the highest quality of care possible.
Ensures their unit meets federal and state regulatory standards, as well as facility policies and procedures.
Collaborates with the Director of Nursing, Nurse Practitioners and Physicians to plan and maintain resident care.
Completes admission and discharge assessments.
Oversees and audits changes made to care plans.
Delivers hands-on care and medicine distribution as needed.
Audits and completes charting, evaluations, medical forms, and other administrative tasks.
Identifies procedural problems and works with the Director of Nursing to resolve issues.
Evaluates, prioritizes and meets the care needs of each resident.

Other necessary job functions:

Participate in Quality Assurance, Safety, PIPs and other committees as required.
Provide a safe working environment for staff members, promptly reporting any accidents and implement corrective and preventive action appropriately
Participate in daily morning meetings.
Provide education and coaching to nursing staff as needed to improve patient/resident outcomes.
Provide clinical backup to floors as needed.
Take weekend on-call according to the assigned on-call rotation schedule (if applicable).
Complete Chart audits for Medicaid patients monthly.
Develop and maintain the nursing policies and procedures as needed.

Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Registered Nurse or License Practical Nurse with license in good standing in the state of Kentucky or any other Compact/Multi-state.
Active CPR/BLS Required.

Reports to Vice President, Revenue Cycle Job Specific Responsibilities 1. Responsible for identifying, building, and maintaining revenue guardian edits within the Epic billing system based on documentation and CDM requirements. 2. Perform routine chart audits and clinical documentation review to identify correct level of care, missing, incorrect or undocumented charges across clinic, hospital and ancillary departments. 3. Provide education to clinical and professional staff regarding proper documentation to ensure accurate patient charging. 4. Work with clinical, financial, and operational stakeholders to implement accurate and complete charging for new and emerging therapies and services and high-risk/high-dollar services provided by the organization. 5. Facilitate the review and response to CMS Medicare RAC Audits along with other payer and outside agency audits involving hospital billing. 6. Finalize and sign-off with those auditors on agreed upon final audit reports and charges. 7. Utilize clinical knowledge and documentation review to identify revenue guardian edits within the billing system and perform routine chart audits. 8. Collaborate with clinical teams and other departments to provide documentation and charging education, maximize system efficiency, and ensure timely and complete charge capture. 9. Monitor KPIs such as missing and late charges, charge lag timeframes, average daily revenue, ABN completion, DNFB days/days to timely bill, and clinically triggered charges. Also, follow up on improvement initiatives with departments negatively impacting metrics. 10. Monitor denial trends related to upstream system and logic issues and/or workflows and act as a liaison across departments to find solutions. 11. Align with CDI, Coding and CBO/Revenue Cycle follow-ups teams to reduce denials and influence proactive revenue optimization. 12.
