Job Duties

This position provides psychiatric care as an ancillary of an interdisciplinary treatment team to a group of patients. Specifically, this position monitors and manages psychiatric conditions of elderly patients. This position works under the supervision of the psychiatrist and works closely with the medical physicians and other clinical professionals to support the recovery of psychiatric patients referred to the hospital for treatment. This position rounds, performs psychiatric admissions, comprehensive psychiatric assessments, follows up on patient problems and provides consultations on patients.

Minimum Qualifications

Good diagnostic and medical treatment skills; ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary treatment team; working knowledge of federal and Virginian laws related to elderly and mental health, some knowledge of DBHDS policies and regulations relating to patient’s rights and treatment procedures; good writing skills and communication capabilities.

Must possess an unrestricted license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia or obtain one prior to the start of employment and hold a current DEA Controlled Substance License or obtain one prior to the start of employment.

Prior Geriatric/Psychiatric Hospital experience.
