Overview

Critical care registered nurses provide illness management and health promotion for patients and families in a variety of departments, including but not limited to inpatient nursing units, the Emergency Dept. and intensive care units. Critical care registered nurses utilize the nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age-appropriate nursing care for their assigned patients. Critical care registered nurses provide patient and family education and advocate for their needs, while coordinating patient care with non-professional personnel as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age-appropriate plan of care for the critically ill patient and family that promotes optimal patient outcomes.
  • Meets the educational and informational needs of the patient and family and advocates for their needs.
  • Maintains an environment that is safe, comfortable, efficient, and family centered.
  • Utilizes current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve nursing care quality.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree ADN Required. Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role. and 1-2 years experience 1-2 years of experience preferred or
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013. Nurses hired after this date without a BSN, must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date. and No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
  • RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
  • Specialty Nursing Certification encouraged for all eligible nurses Preferred

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $33.43/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

 

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.

Registered Nurse Telemetry

Overview Shift Available: Nights Employment Type: Part-Time Hours: 7:00pm-7:00am (12-hour shifts) Location: St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO We are seeking a Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN), sometimes referred to as a Telemetry RN or Tele RN. A Tele RN specializing in attending to patients within our telemetry units, including those needing cardiac monitoring. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): Recognizes signs of abuse and reports appropriately to the hospital social worker and/or Adult / Child Protective Services. Familiar with the EMTALA Regulations. Responsible for the observation and direction of patient lifts, mobilization, and shall participate as needed in patient handling. Attends and maintains mandatory training in safe patient handling, trained in safe lifting techniques, includes but not limited to 1) Appropriate use of lifting devices and equipment, 2) Five areas of body exposure: vertical, lateral, bariatric repositioning and ambulation, 3) Use of lifting devices to handle patients safely. Uses professional judgment and clinical assessment in safe patient handling that are consistent with Safe Patient Handling policies. Uses two patient identifiers consistently when drawing lab, administering medications and performing procedures. Follows medication reconciliation policy consistently. Does not use unacceptable abbreviations in documentation (uses read back on all telephone orders.) Monitors authentication and validation of telephone orders within 24 hours by the physician. Ensures consistently that all clinical alarms, i.e. cardiac monitors are set with the appropriate parameters for the patient and are audible at all times.
