Prepare patients for surgery by assessing hemodynamics, consents, history,

labs, meds, and NPO status; communicate promptly w ith physicians and OR

team to prevent delays. Provide emotional support and education to patients

and families. Postoperatively, assess readiness for discharge, transition

patients home or to rehab facilities, and deliver clear discharge instructions

using critical thinking and decision-making skills.

Education

QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required

Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree of Nursing preferred

All ASN must complete their BSN studies within five years of their start date

License & Certifications

Current NJ (New Jersey) Registered Nurse License required

BLS ACLS and PALS required

CAPA, CPAN, or CCRN preferred

Experience

Minimum 2-3 years related work experience in a Pre-op, PACU, critical care or OR/ambulatory surgery center setting.

Additional Job Requirements

Ability to read, write and speak English.

Flexibility in shifts according to surgery schedule and hours of operation

Float to other MMC surgical services areas as needed

Duties not mentioned here, but considered related are not essential functions. Job Qualification Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, preferred. Must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two (2) years and obtain a BSN Degree within five (5) years of job entry date. Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
