Amatus Health is seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team for a weekend position at our TruHealing Bethlehem, NH location. The RN will work under the direction of the Director of Nursing and Charge Nurses to provide high-quality nursing care and support to individuals receiving detoxification and behavioral health treatment services.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout the detoxification and recovery process. Responsibilities include nursing assessments, medication administration, patient monitoring, treatment planning support, and coordination with the medical and clinical treatment teams. The RN plays a critical role in ensuring patient safety, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting positive patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Current and active RN license in good standing
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in detox, behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, or a similar treatment environment
  • Current CPR certification
  • Experience administering medications orally, subcutaneously, and intramuscularly (IM)
  • Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of withdrawal, medical instability, and psychiatric emergencies and respond appropriately
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to remain calm and respond effectively during emergency situations
  • Ability to physically respond quickly in emergency situations
  • Familiarity with ASAM Criteria preferred
  • Familiarity with Joint Commission (JCAHO) Standards of Care for Behavioral Health preferred
  • Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Detox Nurse is instrumental in guiding patients safely through the detoxification process under physician orders. This role includes educating patients regarding their treatment and condition while providing accurate clinical reporting to physicians, ARNPs, and the treatment team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Administering medications as prescribed by the medical team
  • Performing nursing assessments during intake and discharge
  • Conducting daily nursing assessments, including CIWA and COWS assessments
  • Monitoring patient progress and documenting all changes in condition within the Electronic Health Record system
  • Making independent clinical decisions within the scope of RN licensure
  • Communicating important clinical updates to the Charge Nurse, Chief Nursing Officer, and Medical Director as appropriate
  • Completing discharge assessments and required documentation
  • Following Universal Infection Control Precautions and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ensuring compliance with infection control and exposure prevention policies
  • Reconciling medications at the end of each shift
  • Maintaining accurate controlled substance logs in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Providing thorough shift-to-shift communication to ensure continuity of patient care
  • Supporting a safe, respectful, and therapeutic treatment environment
