Job Duties

Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center; named for two Medal of Honor recipients – Colonel Van Barfoot and Colonel Carl Sitter – provides the gold standard in quality care for Virginia’s Veterans. This single-level facility features 200 single-occupancy rooms across four nursing units.

Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center (SBVCC) is recruiting for an LPN Floor Nurse with Charge Nurse responsibilities for the following shifts:

7AM - 330PM every weekend (Saturday & Sunday)
3PM - 1130PM every weekend (Saturday & Sunday)
3PM - 1130PM every Tuesday & Thursday

Part-time wage employees are not eligible for benefits and hours are limited to 1500 hours per year (May 1 - April 30).

Duties include:

• Administer medications and treatment accurately for assigned residents.

• Consult with physicians; receives, records and implements orders and schedules appointments.

• Document residents’ health changes via acute care nurse’s notes and shift change nursing reports.

• Formulate plans of care for new residents and prepares all required reports and documentation.

• Conduct daily rounds; observing and evaluating the physical and emotional status of assigned residents and taking necessary actions to ensure their health and well-being.

• Maintain equipment, supplies, and materials necessary for nursing care; Consulting with Nursing Supervisor/Unit Manager as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be licensed as a Practical Nurse in Virginia.

Additional Considerations

Nursing experience in a long-term care or adult geriatric setting
