Position Summary: The primary purpose of your job is to assess resident’s needs, develop an individualized care plan, administer nursing care, evaluate nursing care and supervise nursing assistants and other personnel in the delivery of nursing care. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our community, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing Services or designee to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. Follows all health, sanitary and infection control policies and maintains established standards of practice set forth by the community's administration and Nursing Policies and Procedures. Education/Qualifications: Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as a RN within the state in which you work. Must possess a current CPR certification. Must be able to communicate in English and have the ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Must possess and demonstrate the ability to carry out both verbal and written directions. Must possess and demonstrate good interpersonal skills and attention to detail. Ability to work with supervisors, co-workers and community staff in the performance of duties. Ability to observe proper safety and sanitary techniques. Ability to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position/assignment. Must not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of others in the workplace. OVERVIEW: Assist the Director of Nursing and Assistant Director of Nursing in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department. Maintains quality clinical care for residents/patients in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the Facility. RESPONSIBILITIES: · Supervises the clinical care planning and delivery processes to ensure the coordination of quality patient care. Reviews and updates the care plan accordingly · Assesses residents/clients upon admission and periodically as conditions change · Performs rounds to evaluate patient condition · Provides or assists with the delivery of direct patient care when indicated, including activities of daily living, meal assistance, medication and treatment administration, and leisure activities when indicated · Obtains and implements Physician Orders, checking for accuracy and completeness · Communicates between shifts regarding changes in resident/patient conditions · Ensures a safe and secure environment for patients/residents, staff and visitors · Provides clinical assessment to MD/NPs on call for quality outcomes delivered to patients · Plans, implements and evaluates the clinical competencies and on-going educational/orientation needs of the staff. · Participate in Facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as requested by the Administrator or Director of Nursing Services · Participate in developing, implementing, and periodically updating the resident’s written discharge plan · Ensure that a sufficient number of nursing staff is available for each shift to ensure that quality care is maintained · Make daily rounds of the Nursing Services Department to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.
