RN School Contract

Make a meaningful difference for students with complex medical needs as a dedicated school-based RN in the Hayward/Union City area. This engaging contract position supports medically fragile students on a 1:1 basis, providing critical care while facilitating a safe and supportive educational environment. Enjoy a dynamic, part-time schedule with 18.522.5 hours per week, with assignments starting soon.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Rotate between campuses and students, serving as an itinerant RN for extended school year (ESY) services
  • Review and implement seizure and health plans for multiple students
  • Train school staff on healthcare procedures, protocols, and responses
  • Build relationships with parents and develop a deep understanding of each student's needs
  • Be available to provide urgent medical support when necessary
  • Deliver direct student care tailored to individualized health concerns

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current, active RN license in California required
  • Prior experience in school nursing or pediatric care, especially in 1:1 or itinerant roles
  • Strong knowledge of seizure disorders, diabetes care (including insulin/CGM/carb counting), gastronomy, bladder catheterization, and asthma management
  • Comfortable caring for students aged 422 with developmental delays or autism spectrum disorder
  • Skilled in administering emergency medications such as EpiPen or Benadryl
  • Experience working with both hypo- and hyperglycemia cases
  • Bilingual Spanish speakers are especially encouraged to apply, though this is not required
