Position Summary

The Director of Nursing Services is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and supervision of nursing services within the facility. This leader ensures quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staffing oversight, employee development, and strong interdisciplinary collaboration.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can build culture, hold teams accountable, mentor staff, and maintain high clinical standards while supporting a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee all nursing operations within the facility

  • Ensure delivery of high-quality resident care and clinical outcomes

  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations

  • Lead, coach, and mentor nursing leadership and staff

  • Partner with the Administrator and interdisciplinary team to achieve operational and clinical goals

  • Manage staffing, scheduling, labor management, and nursing department budgets

  • Monitor quality measures, infection prevention, survey readiness, and clinical compliance

  • Promote employee engagement, accountability, retention, and teamwork

  • Investigate concerns and implement corrective action plans when necessary

  • Foster a culture of compassion, professionalism, and resident-centered care

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment

  • Previous long-term care/skilled nursing leadership experience required

  • Prior experience as a Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing preferred

  • Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, survey process, infection prevention, PBJ, and quality measures

  • Proven leadership, communication, and team-building skills

  • Ability to lead in a fast-paced environment with professionalism and accountability

Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities. In-depth understanding of substance use disorders, evidence-based treatment approaches, and recovery principles. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse nursing team. Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements in healthcare and addiction treatment settings. Certification in addiction nursing or related field is a plus (e.g., CARN – Certified Addiction Registered Nurse) preferred.
