
TMS Technician (Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse)
The TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) Technician is responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and clinically appropriate TMS treatments to patients in an outpatient mental health setting. The technician works collaboratively with psychiatrists, nursing staff, therapists, PHP/IOP teams, and inpatient psychiatric hospital staff to coordinate continuity of care for patients referred for TMS services.
This role includes patient monitoring, treatment administration, documentation, scheduling coordination, and supporting patient engagement throughout the course of treatment. The TMS Technician helps ensure a positive patient experience while maintaining compliance with clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Administer TMS treatments under the supervision and direction of the treating psychiatrist or licensed provider.
- Prepare patients for treatment sessions by explaining procedures, answering questions, and providing emotional support.
- Position patients accurately and ensure proper coil placement according to physician treatment parameters.
- Monitor patients during treatment for side effects, discomfort, or changes in mental status and promptly report concerns to the provider.
- Observe and document patient responses, mood changes, symptom progression, and treatment tolerance.
- Collaborate closely with outpatient PHP/IOP teams and inpatient psychiatric hospital staff to facilitate smooth transitions into TMS services.
- Track treatment attendance, missed appointments, symptom rating scales (PHQ-9), and treatment outcomes.
- Ensure all TMS protocols and safety procedures are followed consistently.
- Maintain equipment logs, calibration records, and treatment room readiness/cleanliness.
- Build therapeutic rapport with patients experiencing depression.
- Encourage treatment adherence and assist patients in navigating scheduling or transportation barriers.
- State of Nevada LPN license or Medical Assistant required.
- Experience working in behavioral health, psychiatry, healthcare, or outpatient medical settings preferred.
- Experience with TMS, medical assisting, psychiatric technician roles, or patient care strongly preferred.
- Experience working with acute psychiatric populations preferred.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during crisis situations.
- Fast-paced clinical environment requiring flexibility, professionalism, and strong teamwork.
