Job Summary:

Buena Vista Healthcare is looking for a Director of Nursing (DNS) to manage the day-to-day operations, activities and success of the resident care staff. Validates that the Nursing Department continues to develop and maintain high standards for excellence.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and maintains a nursing service philosophy, objectives, standards of practice, policy and process manuals.
  • Establishes systems for care planning, including assessments, plan of treatment, objectives and goals, evaluations and discharge planning.
  • Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, disciplining, coaching, and conducting performance appraisals 
  • Demonstrates an understanding and knowledge of certification laws and requirements, survey requirements and Medicare program.
  • Validates that reporting departments consistently meet state and federal requirements for long-term care facilities for licensure. Validates existence of a quality assurance program for nursing services and coordinates interdisciplinary quality assurance program.
  • Directs the functions and activities of the ED in his/her absence.

Education, Licensure, and Experience:

  • Required: Current Registered Nursing license in (State)
  • Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • Preferred: Certification in Rehab Nursing, geriatrics, or psychiatric nursing 
  • Preferred: Minimum two years' experience as a nursing services supervisor in a long-term care.

Skilled Nursing Center of Tawas City is seeking a Director of Nursing RN to join their team! The Director of Nursing RN is responsible for the planning, organization, direction, supervision and evaluation of all the nursing services provided in the facility. Ensures nursing department compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, implementation of company nursing core programs, orientation and training of nursing services personnel, and budget management. Director of Nursing RN Duties and Responsibilities: Manages the nursing staff, scheduling breaks, reassigning employees from one area to another area as facility needs dictate, writing performance reviews, and enforcing policies with responsibility to issue Coaching and Corrective Action, as needed. If out of town/not available, will designates a qualified registered nurse to assume such duties. The designee must be approved by the Administrator and appropriate facility personnel notified.
