GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job provides quality care to patients and families to promote health and prevent disease under the direction of a registered nurse or physician.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs general nursing care in accordance with nursing practice standards. (30%)
Assists with the preparation of equipment and assists the physician/clinical provider during treatment, examination and testing of patients. (20%)
Collects assessment data, prepares patient for examination and documents clinical information on patient record. (20%)
Orders diagnostic tests as directed by registered nurse or physician/clinical provider and gathers diagnostic tests and/or examines results prior to physician/clinical provider assessment. (20%)
Schedules procedures and obtains authorizations as necessary. (5%)
May give injections or medication, collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, and prepare them for testing. (5%)
Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

High school diploma/ GED or equivalent.
Current state licensure as an LPN OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
CPR – American Heart Association
Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Preferred

1 year healthcare experience.
State approved IV course certification.
Knowledge of OASIS documentation and assessment process.
PALS or ACLS may be required based on the specific area of practice.

Receives prescription refills calls and are appropriately sent to the pharmacy under a provider’s direct supervision and are thoroughly documented in the patient record by the end of the business day the prescriptions were taken care of. Assures nursing documentation in the medical records is complete including lot numbers for vaccines and samples. Performs administrative duties as requested. To include but not limited to: Appointment scheduling and follow up appointment scheduling as needed, telephone etiquette including message taking and recalling patients, Picking up, opening and distributing mail, obtain authorizations as needed, obtaining co-payments and self payment amounts from patients. Maintains exam rooms and workstation and ensures cleanliness. Maintains the organized flow of nursing information and documentation. Documents are organized and available for use when needed. Triage patient clinical calls. Schedule tests or procedures for patients as appropriate. Pacemaker and Defibrillator checks if applicable for the practice. Uses appropriate measures of Infection Control to include PPE and hand washing. Maintains medical information and filing and or scanning. Use of Meditech, Medisoft and Medisoft Clinical EMR.
