Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Stepdown

Shift

72 hr requirement in a 6 week schedule, of which, 24 hrs need to be worked over a weekend.

Experience

One year of recent Stepdown/PCU/Progressive Care Nurse experience required.

Education

  • RN Diploma, ASN required.
  • BSN preferred.

Licensures/Certifications

  • PA RN license OR a multi-state license verified in one of the approved states through the Nursing Licensure Compact.
  • Provider BLS (American Heart Assoc/American Red Cross) preferred.

The goal of this unit is to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care. The Synergy model is used in making appropriate patient assignments based on patient and family needs and nursing skill set. Special equipment used on this unit includes infusion pumps, syringe pumps, feeding pumps, BiPap respirators, Oxygen delivery methods, PCA & epidural pumps, wound vacutainers, ventilators and specialty beds. Nursing competencies include: chest tube management, pain management, blood product administration, urinary catheterization, tracheostomy care, ventilator management, and central line care and management. Qualifications We are looking for professional and dedicated nurses passionate about pediatrics BSN preferred; if have associate's degree must receive BSN within three years Pediatric experience preferred At least 6 months of nursing experience required Bilingual Preferred Must be eligible for or have current DE nursing license. Schedule: Part-time, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday - 8am-4pm The responsibilities of the wound care nurse involve conducting and documenting detailed physical exams, evaluating and managing patients with wounds and extensive case management. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Adheres to hospital nursing practice standards, demonstrates appropriate history and physical assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. Implements appropriate Nursing actions to each patient that is identified. Thorough History and Physical’s will be done on every patient in the wound center. Makes decisions that reflect both knowledge of facts and sound judgment. Discusses with and includes patient and/or family significant other about planned patient care and expected outcomes and documents it. Identifies and appropriately utilizes multidisciplinary approach to facilitate delivery of patient care. Evaluates the patient’s/significant other’s understanding of instructions. Gives written instructions and materials to patients and families. Reviews preventative health measures to patient and family. Documents understanding of instructions. Completes all charts/forms accurately and timely. Receives and gives a knowledgeable and concise patient report to others, as necessary to demonstrate awareness of patient’s overall condition. Initiates Clinical Pathways/Plan of Care on appropriate patient population at patients first visit. Updates and initiates Care Plans and Pathways as changes in patient’s needs are assessed. Minimum Qualifications: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Delaware required. Associate's Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
