Patient Care Associate- 3 East

Assists nurses with direct and indirect patient care activities. Prepares patients rooms for occupancy after discharge. Additional responsibilities includes blood draws and EKG's.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Observes patient's mental, emotional and physical conditions and report any changes to the nursing staff.
  • Performs non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures based on medical instructions as directed by nursing staff.
  • May perform special procedures as required and directed (i.e., blood draws/EKGs).
  • Conducts regular patient rounds and meets with patient’s family members when required.
  • Collects test specimens and performs laboratory analysis as directed by nursing staff.
  • Answers patient calls and determines how best to help them.
  • Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.

Daily Work Times: 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.

Scheduled Biweekly Hours: 72 Hours

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a Nurse Assistant Certification Program or equivalent
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification

Preferred:

  • Minimum of six (6) months recent experience as a Nurse Assistant in an acute care setting preferred.
  • Completion of phlebotomy course or equivalent experience preferred.

Position Summary: Provides health care for patients under the direction of a nurse. Assists patients under their care with day-to-day tasks, playing a vital support role.
