Responsibilities

  • Assessment & Prioritization
    • Performs accurate and thorough patient assessments to determine clinical needs and prioritize care appropriately.
    • Conducts risk assessments to identify potential complications and initiates timely interventions.
  • Specimen Collection & Processing
    • Collects correct and adequate blood and urine specimens as ordered by physicians, following proper techniques and safety procedures.
    • Accurately labels specimens and completes all required processing steps to ensure integrity and traceability.
    • Ensures appropriate and timely delivery of specimens to the laboratory, coordinating courier transport or outside‑agency pickup when required.
  • Documentation & Communication
    • Maintains clear, complete, and timely documentation in accordance with departmental and regulatory standards.
    • Communicates effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to support safe and coordinated care.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year Emergency Department or Critical Care experience preferred.
  • PALS within 6 months required
  • TNCC within 1 year required

Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record. Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans. Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration. Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable. Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate. Provides delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
