Pinehurst's peaceful village character and long leaf pine setting make it one of North Carolina's most calming places to live, an important quality for nurses doing the emotionally intensive work of labor and delivery. The Tufts Archives in the Given Memorial Library offer a fascinating window into the town's origins as a health resort, and that heritage of wellness still shapes the community's character today. Moore County's local farm stands and year-round temperate climate make outdoor life comfortable in every season, and the drive to Raleigh takes just over an hour, opening up access to the Triangle's larger arts, dining, and entertainment scene whenever a bigger city day is in order.
