Pinehurst has a distinctive, unhurried character rooted in its origins as a planned health resort, and that legacy gives the community a quality of life that is well matched to the focused attention that telemetry nursing requires. The village's brick-paved streets, historic inns, and canopy of long leaf pines create an environment that is both beautiful and calm, and the nearby towns of Southern Pines and Aberdeen offer excellent independent dining and a growing craft beverage scene. For outdoor enthusiasts, the Sandhills area has excellent opportunities for equestrian activities, trail hiking, and freshwater fishing, and the drive to the North Carolina coast at Cape Fear or Wilmington is roughly two hours on a clear day.
