CNA Instructor

Nashville General Hospital is hiring a CNA Instructor position.

This position, under the supervision of the Director of Health Sciences Education, involves providing instruction for vocational students in the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program. Through teaching and demonstration, the instructor prepares students to pass the CNA credentialing exam written by D&S Diversified Technologies. The instructor teaches the discipline of basic nursing skills in which he or she has specific training and competence. As such, the instructor is expected to plan, organize, and teach in a manner that is in harmony with the program’s mission and goals.

CNA Instructor Responsibilities:

  • Teach classroom and clinical instruction in Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) skills and patient care
  • Prepare students for the CNA certification exam, including skills competency and written exam readiness
  • Develop lesson plans, assignments, assessments, and instructional materials aligned with program objectives
  • Supervise students in clinical settings and evaluate student performance and progress
  • Maintain student attendance, grades, and required academic documentation
  • Support student retention, completion, and certification exam pass rates
  • Collaborate on curriculum development, program improvement, and education initiatives
  • Mentor students, communicate job opportunities, and foster a professional learning environment
  • Ensure compliance with program policies, FERPA requirements, and accreditation standards

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Active LPN or RN license in good standing required
  • Minimum 2 years of healthcare experience as an LPN or RN required
  • Experience teaching adults, workforce training, or supervising CNAs preferred
  • Knowledge of CNA curriculum, instructional development, and student assessment methods
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and mentoring skills
  • Ability to support program planning, quality improvement, and student success outcomes
