Dept: Transitional Care Unit/Med Surg

Shift: Full Time 7am - 7:30pm / 80 Hours per Pay

Facility: Miami Valley Hospital

The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse (RN) who partners with and advocates for patients/families/significant others to provide physical, emotional and spiritual support which impacts patient outcomes in a safe environment. The RN functions in a versatile role that demonstrates professionalism and promotes excellence and autonomy in the practice of Nursing. The RN utilizes the nursing process in conjunction with evidence-based principles to care for a diverse caseload of patients within the department scope of service. The RN serves as guide, healer, collaborator, teacher, leader and sentry. The RN collaborates with and guides care delivered by the inter-professional team. The RN is accountable for compliance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, Nursing Code of Ethics and applicable regulatory standards.

Education: Graduation from accredited school of nursing; BSN required or must obtain within 5 years of hire. Proof of enrollment required within 6 months of hire. ** RNs with min. 2 years of acute care hospital experience may elect to forgo the BSN requirement and sign a Professional Certification MOU which must be obtained with 3 years of hire.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Valid Ohio RN license Current AHA BLS certification required at the time of hire.

Experience: No prior job-related work experience required

Knowledge/Skills: o Must be able to multitask with constant interruptions while maintaining a pleasant demeanor o Basic computer knowledge o Strong organization skills o Effective interpersonal and communication skills

Registered Nurse (RN) - Intensive Care Unit Stepdown (ICU) - Springfield Regional Medical Center Job Summary: The Progressive Care (Step down) Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by: Utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status Acting as the service line between Med-Surg and ICU units Determining the priority of the patient’s problems and needs Developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment Essential Functions: Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment, and evaluates treatment effectiveness Serves as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department Administer medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and the organization’s policies and procedures Other duties as assigned Education: Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred, not required) Certifications: Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred at hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care, ACLS required within 6 months of hire) Experience: 1 year of RN experience (required) 6 months RN experience in an acute care hospital setting (preferred) Mercy Health is an equal opportunity employer.
