Medical Assistant Certified- Lynchburg Family Medicine- FT/Days

Job Description

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), under the direction and supervision of a licensed medical practitioner, provides patient support services, as well as office clerical duties. Medical Assistants coordinate patient care under the tenets of Centra’s Professional Practice model and collaborate with providers and members of the interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care, focused on achieving desired outcomes.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider; measures vital signs, and interviews patients to obtain health histories.

Under the provider's direction, provides health promotion and counseling to patients and caregivers. Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and caregivers. Ensures understanding of the plan of care.

Administers medications and immunizations (injectable, oral, topical, aerosol), provides wound care, and personal health interventions at the direction of a provider, as deemed competent.

Performs patient testing to include specimen collection, CLIA-waved testing, blood collection, and electrocardiogram

Serve as a communication liaison for the healthcare team.

Assists with patient scheduling and follow up care.

Maintains accurate, detailed patient records and charts using an electronic medical record (EMR) system

Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with policies and procedures, rules, and regulations.

May perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specification can be modified or updated at any time

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent,

Graduate of Medical Assistant program.

Required Certifications and Licensures: Current certification or registration through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or another equivalent organization

Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) completion

Preferred Qualifications

2 years’ experience as a medical assistant

Salary Range: $18.23- $26.42 / Hour
