GENERAL SUMMARY:

 

The Employee Health Services RN practices according to the Standards of Occupational and Environmental Health Nursing as identified by the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses.  The Employee Health Services RN collaborates with employees, employers, members of the occupational health and safety team, and other professionals to identify health and safety needs, prioritize interventions, develop and implement interventions and programs, and evaluate care and service delivery.

 

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

1.       *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2.      *Assesses the health status of the individual or population and the environment.

3.       *Analyzes assessment data to formulate plan of care.

4.      *Integrates standards of care, procedures, physician standard orders, age-specific needs, regulations and professional recommendations into the plan of care.

5.       *Incorporates cultural consideration as well as home and family dynamics into the plan of care.

6.      *Implements nursing actions and therapeutic interventions to carry out the plan of care.

7.       *Provides education with consideration for learning abilities, preferences and readiness to learn, using appropriate resources and teaching aids.

8.      *Evaluates the client's response to interventions.

9.      *Provides discharge instructions regarding ongoing plan of care, including alternative follow-up strategies depending on the client's condition and response to therapies.

10.   *Promotes appropriate self-care strategies.

11.   *Promotes wellness and disease prevention.

12.   *Makes appropriate referrals and facilitates referral contacts as needed.

13.   *Documents all aspects of the plan of care, including outcomes.

14.   Practices collaboratively with other members of the interdisciplinary team.

15.   *Communicates appropriate information to coworkers and Employee Health Services Manager.

16.   *Maintains confidentiality of the client's health information.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act required.  Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. 

 

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

 

Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required

SUMMARY The Emergency RN performs therapeutic nursing interventions consistent with the Emergency Department including: ACLS/PALS protocols; Arrhythmia detection and treatment; Airway management; Wound care; Pain management; Crisis intervention; Discharge planning/instructions; Stroke scale. Initiates appropriate Emergency Protocols. Manages the care of pediatric/adult patients with conditions common to the Emergency Department, including: Cardiac, respiratory distress, ENT, GYN, wound, orthopedic, and neurological emergencies; Trauma emergencies. Serves as preceptor, charge nurse, or triage nurse based on skill development and at the discretion of the manager. Serves as resource for student and orientees. Assists in the collection of data for medical screenings. Anticipates and intervenes to meet patient and family needs. Makes appropriate referrals to Care Management, ED Connections, Voices of Hope, etc. Assists the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner in the care of the sexual assault patient.
