Summary Of Position

The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for general clinical and procedural patient care under the direction and supervision of the center’s physicians and/or providers.

Nature and Scope

The Certified Medical Assistant works under the direct supervision of the physician and/or provider. A minimum patient base of 1,000 to 3,000 patients is served, and an average of 20 – 50 patients are seen each day. The Certified MA will assist providers with patient care that includes, but is not limited to; order entry, reporting, phone calls, clerical, and organizational tasks, and related duties.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent certificate required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification required. Must maintain current MA certification with CEU requirements, along with BLS certification, for the duration of employment.
  • Successful completion of an accredited medical assistant program required.
  • Experience in an ambulatory care environment preferred.
  • Ability to learn related center tasks and be of assistance to management and physicians.
  • Self-motivated to achieve the highest patient care and patient experience standards.
  • BLS certified at the time of employment, or within the first 3 months.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding preferred.
