Position Description: RN – Registered Charge Nurse - Pulmonary Medical

BayCare Health System is currently seeking a Registered Charge Nurse to join our outstanding and compassionate Pulmonary Medical team at St. Joseph’s Hospital. As part of the community since 1934, St. Joseph’s Hospital has been a partner for continued health and wellness.

This is a PCU unit with respiratory/pulmonary patients, they have all private rooms and get a lot of patients out of the ICU. This unit takes care of ventilated patients.

The Charge Nurse Responsibilities Include

  • Proficiency in the care of a sub-specialty group of patients utilizing effective managerial skills.
  • Acting as a professional role model for other members of the nursing team.
  • Professional accountability and development.
  • Performing the role of preceptor and charge nurse.
  • Acting as a mentor and resource expert.

Qualifications

Certifications and Licensures:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification is required
  • RN (Registered Nurse) license is required
  • ACLS Certification if required by department
  • RN Professional Nurse Specialty Certification within 7 months of hire/promotion in lieu of education. Certification must be RN Professional, nationally recognized and applicable to the current primary area of practice on the approved Clinical Registered Nurse Certifications Grid.
  • Nurse Specialty certification is preferred

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing, BS in a healthcare related field, or RN Professional Nurse Specialty Certification is required within 7 months of hire/promotion

Experience

  • 2 years of RN experience is required
  • 1 year of leadership experience is preferred
