Summary GENERAL SUMMARY The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled individual that works in a healthcare setting to support the non-clinical and clinical functions of the service area. LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS Required Licenses and/or Certifications CPR training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire. Must provide record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing. Preferred Licenses and/or Certifications Current registration/certification as a Medical Assistant or military medical experience preferred. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Required Education and Experience Successful completion of an accredited medical assistant program or a recognized medical assistant certification. Preferred Education and Experience One to two years of experience in a related healthcare field preferred. WORKING CONDITIONS Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected. Overview The Medical Assistant is responsible for a variety of patient care, technical, and clerical related functions under the direct supervision of the physician and practice manager. Responsible for the clinic patient flow by assisting members of the patient care team and providing a wide range of health care services while supporting quality and safe care. What you will do Maintains excellent clinical competency by adhering to the standard clinical expectations for Riverside Medical Group. Overview Full time position for an advanced medical assistant, providing outpatient care for our patients and assisting our physicians in all clinical areas of the practice. Responsible for front and back office procedures. Also assists Physicians and Nurses with medical examination of patients. This position is located at our Princess Anne Office in Virginia Beach. Responsibilities Train and orient new medical assistants. QA Review of patient charts obtaining all pertinent documentation for return and postpartum patients. Updating patient prenatal lab forms for all follow up patients. Schedule outside patient referrals. Maintain/order supplies for the clinic to include weekly checks for expired materials/medications and/or materials close to expiration. Takes vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure. May draw blood and give injections under the immediate supervision of a Physician or RN.
