Overview The Department of Medicine at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University is seeking an outstanding Medical Assistant to join the team. Position assists physicians, APPs, and nursing staff with patient care to include patient triage, referral orders, retrieve imaging and lab results, process work tasks, messages in the EHR and patient portal, assists other clinical staff with daily clinical and administrative tasks, and stock/prepare exam rooms. Also prepares patients for provider visits and assisting providers with procedures. Responsibilities Triage incoming patients by obtaining vital signs, following standing triage orders, reconcile medication list, reconcile allergies, make sure immunizations are up to date and prepare patient for the visit. Assist physicians with examinations, minor surgeries, diagnostic procedures and treatments. Provide basic patient care and education as directed by provider and standing orders. Completes delegated tasks from the current and prior day i.e.: patient messages, prescription refills, lab results, referrals, home health agency requests, medication prior authorizations, patient forms, and physician follow-up. All tasks must be reviewed, addressed, and marked appropriately before the close of each business day. Coordinates services with specialists i.e.: radiation oncology, pulmonology, endocrinology, nutritional counseling, or social services consultation. Documents all correspondence and interventions in the electronic health record. Assists supervisors in the training of new staff members. Maintains current inventory of medical and office supplies Cleans, sterilizes, and maintains used instrumentation per department protocol. Medical Assistants are required to fill in for other clinical staff during vacations and illness and perform other duties as assigned by providers, or supervisors at both sites. The successful candidate in this role shall respond to questions from patients, family members, faculty/residents, other health care providers in a timely and professional manner. Patient inquiries should be answered on the same day they are received, before leaving for the day. If patient is not home at the first attempt, a notation should be made in the medical record. All patient conversations must be documented in the electronic medical record. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications and Skills: Certification as a Medical Assistant such an RMA or CMA is required. Overview The Strelitz Diabetes Center, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders Division, Department of Medicine is recruiting for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP), a nurse practitioner (NP) or a physician assistant (PA), who will function as a clinical provider. The APP will participate in all aspects of patient care and will participate in the supporting roles of consultant, and educator. The main role of the position will include outpatient care of patients as well as in-patient consulting and conducting hospital inpatient rounds. Primary focus will be on patients with diabetes mellitus but may also include other endocrine disorders. Responsibilities Provide medical care to patients in an office/ hospital setting. Collaborate with Nursing, office staff, administration in patient care. Collaborate with peers, and support staff. Participate in academic/clinical/research activates as needed. Participate in education evaluations and career development of students, residents, fellow, and staff. Participate in committees as assigned. Provides nursing care for patients and assisting physicians. Responsibilities Perform patient intake including obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications and allergies, documenting chief complaints, administering medications and immunizations according to approved protocols, observing for adverse reactions, assisting providers with examinations, minor procedures, diagnostic testing, and implementing standing orders. Provide basic patient care and document all nursing interventions in the electronic medical record. Manage patient-related tasks and follow-up activities including responding to patient messages and telephone calls, communicating test and laboratory results, answering patient questions, coordinating referrals and specialist appointments, interacting with family members and healthcare providers, documenting all patient communications, notifying providers of critical results, and ensuring same-day response to patient inquiries when appropriate. Overview Under the daily supervision of the Department Administrator, and Clinical Supervision of a Psychiatrist, this role functions as an Advanced Practice Provider within EVMS Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. This role will enable the Department Psychiatrists to expand their capacity to perform comprehensive new patient evaluations, and to provide patient care for patients that have established and determined diagnosis. This Advanced Practice Provider will also play a pivotal role in the Department's Next Day Clinic (NDAC). Responsibilities Evaluates New Patients. Develop treatment plans for established patients and our revisions in accordance with applicable protocols, standards of care and under the clinical supervision of assigned psychiatrists. Prescribes medications under the practice agreement. Elicits and records a comprehensive and accurate past medical and social history and review of Systems for patients within EPIC. Maintains effective communication with Chairman, Department Administrator, and providers regarding individuals. patient care and develop a coordinated care plan. Maintains strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and manages matters professionally with sensitivity to racial, ethnic, and sexual orientation issues. Overview The Nurse Manager is responsible for management of clinical services of the Minimally Invasive Gynecology Surgery (MIGS) Division, within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN). The Nurse Manager works closely with the MIGS Division Director, MIGS Practice Manager, and Department Administrator to develop, implement, and maintain clinical programs that enhance the quality of care and achieve a high level of patient and provider satisfaction. The Nurse Manager is primarily responsible for the day-to-day clinical operations and oversight of the MIGS Division in both Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Williamsburg. The Nurse Manager provides direction and manages professional employees and is accountable for the performance and results of a team within the framework of the OBGYN Department and EVMS Medical Group. Responsibilities Position will be actively involved in daily clinical support functions to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare. These functions will include hands on support and oversight within the MIGS clinical operations at the Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Williamsburg locations, to include nursing, provider, and patient support and coordination throughout the day. Responsible for the tracking, trending, and auditing of daily and monthly clinical performance related to operational metrics and quality measures, ensuring the team is working within their scope of practice and meeting all associated metrics.Provide direct supervision of assigned MIGS clinical staff. Responsible for talent identification, hiring, onboarding, and training for new team members. Responsible for coordination and distribution of clinical staff assignments and schedules. Demonstrate critical thinking skills needed for maintaining optimum clinical care and effective clinical workflow when faced with operational challenges such as provider and staffing shortages, emergency scheduling issues, electronic health record and telephone outages and other variables that frequently present within the clinical environment. Identify gaps in performance of staff and provide counseling, training or performance improvement plans as needed. Develop measurable metrics to ensure performance standards are being met. Develop and implement policies and procedures governing all aspects of clinical operations. Work in clinics as needed. Represent the MIGS clinical team during leadership meetings, trainings and development sessions. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree. Three (3) years of supervisor experience is required. Licensed Virginia RN (or LPNwith equivalent education and/or experience) is required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in a Medical Office environment is preferred.
