Step into a vital role supporting student health and access to education in an engaging elementary school environment. We're seeking two caring and skilled LPNs to provide one-on-one nursing care for medically involved students throughout the school day, including accompanying them to and from school via bus. This contract position offers an opportunity to make a lasting impact within a collaborative team consisting of educators, paraprofessionals, and healthcare professionals. The position begins with the upcoming 26/27 school year, with the detailed schedule to be determined.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current, active Georgia LPN license
  • Prior pediatric, school-based, or special education experience preferred
  • Experience caring for medically fragile children is highly valued
  • Effective communication and documentation skills
  • Proven ability to work well within a multidisciplinary educational setting
  • Candidates must provide three professional references, including one from a recent supervisor, prior to interviewing

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct daily nursing care to two assigned elementary students
  • Accompany students on the school bus each morning and afternoon
  • Monitor health needs, respond to emergencies, and carry out doctor-ordered care plans
  • Maintain thorough documentation of services and health updates
  • Work closely with classroom staff, parents, and school or district personnel
  • Support student safety and ensure access to all school activities

Preferred Background:

  • Previous school nursing experience
  • Familiarity with IEPs and school-based health care services
  • Confidence supporting students who require specialized medical attention

How you make a difference The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in patient care by contributing to the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Working under the supervision of RN(s), the LPN provides direction and guidance in patient education and activities that align with their education and demonstrated competencies. Key Responsibilities Under RN supervision, assesses patients' physical, psychological, and social dimensions in both the Health Care Unit and housing units, contributing to individualized treatment planning and consulting with RNs and staff as needed. Implements treatment programs directed by Health Care Practitioners, administering medications, including IV therapy (if certified), and performing diagnostic tests according to established protocols and procedures. Collaborates in controlled substance counts at the beginning of each shift, adhering to safety techniques, procedures, and standard precautions while responding to codes or health emergencies within standard guidelines. Assists in medical or minor surgical procedures, implements nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, and documents nursing encounters using SOAP charting, ensuring effective communication with nursing staff, physicians, and other relevant personnel. Attends mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to policies and procedures in providing high-quality patient care. Additional Details 12 hour night shift Qualifications & Requirements Education Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Experience Prefer a minimum of one (1) year clinic experience Licenses/Certifications Have and maintain current licensure as a Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse within the state of employment.
