Northwest Florida Community Hospital (NFCH) is seeking a compassionate and dependable PRN Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our Skilled Nursing Unit (SNU). This role is essential in providing high-quality, patient-centered care and supporting our nursing team in delivering exceptional service to our residents.

Position Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Licensed Nurse. The CNA plays a vital role in maintaining patient comfort, dignity, and safety while assisting with daily care needs in a skilled nursing environment.

Schedule

  • Full Time NIGHT SHIFTS
  • Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding
  • Obtain and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, weight, and intake/output)
  • Observe and report changes in patient condition to the nurse promptly
  • Assist with patient mobility, transfers, repositioning, and use of assistive devices
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents and families
  • Answer call lights promptly and respond to patient needs in a timely and professional manner
  • Assist nursing staff with treatments and procedures as directed
  • Accurately document care provided in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements
  • Follow infection control procedures, including proper use of PPE
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, safety standards, and patient privacy regulations (HIPAA)

Qualifications

  • Current Florida CNA certification (active and in good standing)
  • Current BLS certification (preferred or required upon hire)
  • Previous experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or hospital setting preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Compassionate, patient-focused attitude with strong attention to detail

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, move, or assist patients (up to 50+ lbs with assistance)
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout shift
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations

Work Environment

  • Skilled Nursing Unit within a hospital setting
  • Fast-paced environment requiring multitasking and prioritization
  • Exposure to infectious diseases and bodily fluids; adherence to PPE required

JOB SUMMARY: The C.N.A. provides personal care to residents under the supervision of the licensed nursing personnel. Personal care activities include bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, grooming, oral hygiene, ambulation, ensuring fluids and foods are offered throughout the shift.
