Position Overview

Central Maine Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our inpatient team in a daytime admissions-focused role.

The APP will focus on new patient admissions, ensuring timely, high-quality evaluations and seamless coordination of care.

Preferred Experience

Clinical rotations in internal medicine, hospital medicine, or acute care
Exposure to admissions workflow and inpatient care coordination

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive history and physicals for new admissions
Perform detailed clinical assessments and develop care plans
Collaborate closely with attending physicians and hospitalists
Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic tests
Document all encounters accurately in the EMR
Coordinate care with nursing, case management, and ancillary services
Assist with care transitions and discharge planning as appropriate

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
Previous experience as an NP or PA
Active or eligible for Maine licensure
Excellent clinical judgment and communication skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Help support our busy, outpatient OB/GYN practice under the supervision of covering OB/GYN physicians. This provider will manage a broad range of Women’s Health issues including prenatal and postnatal OB care. The position is focused on outpatient care of obstetrical patients to include clinical care coordination of obstetrical services. However, there is the potential to adapt this position based on the candidate’s interest and experience to include some combination of gynecological care, deliveries, or support for surgical procedures. The candidate is expected to have completed an accredited certified nurse midwifery, nurse practitioner or physician associate program and have two or more years of applicable women’s health experience. A successful candidate will have excellent clinical skills and knowledge of low-risk pregnancy. They will also possess strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment within a busy OB/GYN practice. They will value working with a diverse Minimum Qualifications Education: BSN/MSN and successful completion of nurse midwifery program accredited by the ACNM or successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate program. License/Certifications: Current license and registration to practice as a Registered Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Certified Nurse Midwife as required in the State of Maine.
