Intake Director Position Summary:

The Director of Intake is accountable for the oversight and direction of the hospital’s Admissions Department. As a clinician, this position provides direction to a staff of specialists in the provision of patient access to care and behavioral health assessment services, including call management, clinical evaluations for level of care, crisis intervention, admissions and referrals. This position interfaces closely with the hospital’s medical staff, nursing staff, fellow department heads, and administration, as well as external referring agencies and payers. The Intake Director is responsible for the department’s budget, policies and procedures, regulatory compliance, service excellence, and data management/analysis. In addition, the Intake Director participates with the senior leadership team in the development and management of processes related to the hospital’s strategic goals. The Director of Intake reports directly to the hospital’s CEO.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of four (3) years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting required.  Working knowledge of the Addiction & Recovery field and experience in clinical interviewing, patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, communicating with external review organizations or comparable entities, and working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.  Minimum two (2) years leadership experience managing a related function. Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) and must have Behavioral Health expereince. Must have strong management skills with ability to effectively communicate with staff, ensuring proper employee performance management.

 

EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, mental health/behavioral sciences, or related field required

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

Current Texas License as a Registered Nurse (RN)

CPR, Handle with Care and Verbal De-Escalation Training (Can be obtained upon hire)

Texas Driver's License

Manager Nursing (RN) Emergency Department

At Houston Methodist, the Manager Nursing position is responsible for 24-hour comprehensive operational responsibility for the delivery and quality of patient care provided in the designated areas(s) of responsibility. FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assists in the development of department budget and ensures that the department operates in a cost-effective manner. Manages/audits department expenses within approved budget parameters, ensuring that the department meets the budgeted/flex revenue and/or expense targets on a monthly and annual basis. Develops staffing plans and schedules to meet department/patient care needs that reflect understanding of the importance of cost-effectiveness. Implements department strategies to achieve financial target and staffing needs, developing others to do the same, through optimizing productivity, supply/resource efficiency, minimizing incidental overtime and overtime percentage, and other areas according to department specifications. Plans coverage of unit to maximize presence of management and staff. Develops staffing plans and schedules to meet department/patient care needs that reflect understanding of the importance of cost-effectiveness.
