Riley Outpatient Surgery Center is a teaching facility that focuses on the treatment of pediatric patients in a multitude of surgical specialties.  The facility is located within Riley Hospital in downtown Indianapolis.  Our ambulatory surgery center has six operating rooms and is open M-F from 0700-1730.  Our staff pride themselves on working as a close-knit team who provides excellent care and helps our pediatric patients have a positive experience.

Qualifications: 

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred. 
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. 
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. 
  • Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). 
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. 
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Reassesses patients systematically to identify progress and trends that require intervention. Implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to patient needs and recognizes and responds to emergencies. Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcome. Participates in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning. Coordinates team assignments and makes adjustments based upon patient and unit needs; follows up on delegated patient care tasks for quality and completeness. Utilizes appropriate chain of command for resolution of difficult issues. Participates in orientation of new staff. Maintains a neat, organized, and safe environment for patients and staff. Participates in the unit’s continuous quality improvement plan to improve organizational performance.
