Staff Nurse - UI Health Care Tiffin Family Medicine 50-100%

The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient centered 50-100% Staff Nurse to work at our Tiffin Clinic. This position will mainly support our Tiffin Family Medicine Clinic but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations based on clinical needs/hours. This position will support the clinic in providing phone triage support, laboratory support, helping with prior authorizations, as well as assist with nurse visits.

Duties To Include

  • Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
  • Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.
  • Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.
  • Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response.
  • Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan.
  • Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care.
  • Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions.
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards

Percent of Time: 50-100% (20-40 hours per week)

Schedule: Monday - Friday with variable hours ranging between 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM. No weekends required. No holidays or on-call shifts required.

Salary: $57,587 - $105,636 at 100% time (based on years of experience)

Education

  • An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required


Required Qualifications

  • Current license to practice in the state of Iowa by the time of hire
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.
  • General computer skills are required.
  • Current course completion card in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
  • Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication.


Highly Desirable Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.
  • Previous experience successfully working autonomously.
  • The ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and patient populations is crucial; Float nurses must be comfortable working in various departments and clinics such as primary care and specialty services.
  • Avalibility to provide support to other clinical locations based on clinical need/hours


Desirable Qualifications

  • If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable.
  • Familiarity with UI Health Care and ambulatory clinic workflows
  • Previous experince with family medicine
  • Previous experience with triage phone calls in outlook
  • Previous experience with Epic messages/phone calls/results/fax inbox
  • Previous experience with prior authorizations
  • Previous experience with OB
  • Assist with nurse visits during downtime
  • Previous phlebotomy experience
