Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations. Diagnose and manage common gastrointestinal conditions such as: Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) Peptic ulcer disease Chronic liver disease Viral hepatitis Pancreatic disorders Constipation and diarrhea Gastrointestinal bleeding (as appropriate) Order, interpret, and communicate laboratory, imaging, and pathology results. Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans. Prescribe medications and monitor therapeutic response in accordance with state regulations. Provide pre- and post-procedure evaluation for endoscopic procedures. Educate patients and families regarding disease management, medications, nutrition, and preventive care. Coordinate referrals and collaborate with primary care providers, surgeons, oncology, radiology, nutrition, and other specialists. Document clinical encounters accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record (EMR). Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with regulatory standards. May assist with inpatient consults, hospital rounding, or procedural support depending on practice needs. Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic studies, including vascular ultrasounds, CT angiography, laboratory tests, and other relevant imaging. Manage preoperative and postoperative patient care. Surgical Support Function as first assist during vascular surgical procedures, including open and endovascular interventions.
