School Nurse (Licensed Practical Nurse) in Middletown, NY

Step into a meaningful role supporting students as a bus-riding nurse on a contract basis this summer. Work within a close-knit team to ensure safety and quality care for students on their way to and from school programs.

In this role, you'll primarily provide seizure monitoring and administer Diastat if needed, offering peace of mind for students and their families during transport. Your day will start and end at the Orange County Transit meeting point in Middletown, NY. This is an excellent opportunity for an LPN or RN with solid clinical skills and a caring, attentive approach.

Key Qualifications:

Active New York RN or LPN license required
Previous experience as an LPN/LVN or RN, preferably in a pediatric or school setting
Ability to respond quickly and effectively to medical emergencies
Strong attention to detail and observation skills for seizure monitoring
Professional, compassionate, and reliable
Confident in administering Diastat and handling related care

Responsibilities:

Ride the bus with students Monday and Tuesday mornings (6:30am–8:16am) and afternoons (1:20pm–3:20pm)
Monitor students with known seizure disorders throughout transport
Administer Diastat in accordance with care plans and protocols
Maintain accurate documentation of interventions and observations
Collaborate and communicate with school health staff as necessary
