School Nurse (Licensed Practical Nurse) - Newburgh, NY

Join a rewarding and essential role serving students as a Bus-Riding Nurse for the summer session near the Newburgh, NY area. This contract opportunity runs from July 6, 2026, to August 14, 2026, primarily supporting young riders as they travel between home and school.

As a dedicated nurse, you’ll meet at the Orange County Transit location in Middletown, NY, and ride the bus with students on Mondays and Tuesdays. The morning shift is from 6:30am to 8:16am, with an afternoon shift from 1:20pm to 3:20pm. This vital position focuses on providing skilled medical care in a supportive environment.

Key Qualifications:

Active NY State license as an RN or LPN (required)
Previous experience in pediatric, school, or community nursing preferred
Knowledge of seizure management and emergency medication procedures (specifically Diastat)
Capability to respond calmly and efficiently in medical situations
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Reliable transportation to the meeting location in Middletown

Core Responsibilities:

Accompany students during designated bus routes, ensuring their safety and well-being
Monitor for seizure activity and promptly administer Diastat as prescribed
Maintain accurate documentation of observations and interventions
Communicate with school health staff and families as needed
Uphold confidentiality and follow all district health protocols
