Responsibilities as a Licensed Practical Nurse:

  • Be able to handle complexity of a Pediatrics unit
  • Ability to care for patients with NGT, GT, Tracheostomy, wound care, and temperature instability
  • Be able to care for patients on a ventilator machine
  • Must have the ability to adapt to an environment/clinical setting that changes day to day
  • Administer medications and treatments in compliance with federal, state, local, and facility policies
  • Maintain confidentiality and rights of residents and family members in compliance with HIPPA policies and applicable regulation
  • Promote and support positive guest relations to all visitors and residents

Requirements for a Licensed Practical Nurse:

  • Completion of an accredited school of practical nursing

Description The practice of nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse is defined as performing tasks & responsibilities within the scope of supportive & restorative care; medication administration and specialized tasks under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse of licensed or otherwise legally authorized physician or dentist. Responsibilities A. Clinical/Technical/Service 1. Participates in the application of the nursing process to an assigned group of patients. 2. Demonstrates those behaviors which reflect the scientific knowledge, judgment, and technical skills of a Licensed Practical Nurse 3. Performs job duties under supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse. 4. Demonstrates a competent level of approved skilled nursing care tasks and procedures using approved technical skills related to vital signs, pulse oximetry, venipuncture, starting standard peripheral IVs only (not midlines or long peripheral lines), urinary catheter insertion/catheter care; and simple dressings, remove/discontinue a peripheral line. 5. Compensation The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $33.5929 - $42.9249 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
