Be responsible for facilitating assigned surgical procedures through the assembly of instrumentation, equipment, and supplies
Competitive candidates will have certification as scrub technologist and/or six months of experience as an Operating Room Technician in a hospital operating room or childbirth center

Primary Job Responsibilities

Take the lead in the patient care experience by prepping and maintaining our Operating Rooms for surgical procedures
Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and partners, from our scheduling team to surgeons
Work in a dynamic, fast-paced, problem-solving environment while maintaining vigilance of instruments and supplies used during surgical procedures
Perform scrub role while supporting patient safety a sterile environment
Support of post-operative tasks, including removal of contaminated instruments, decontamination, sterilization and turnover of the Operating Room

Required Position Qualifications

Completion of a Surgical Technologist program AND one year of experience assisting clinical staff in a variety of operative procedures in an operating room environment OR equivalent education/experience.

Evening Shift: $1.75/hour
Night Shift: $5.00/hour
Weekends: $4.00/hour

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Surgical Technologist II to, under the direction of Staff Nurses, assists with surgical procedures, the provision of therapeutic, preventive and emergency patient care duties. Prepares, operates and maintains routine and complex equipment, instruments, supplies and implants. Position Responsibilities Prepares surgical area for patient care and anticipates the needs of the surgical team. Serves as primary preceptor for Surgical Technology students, Summer 10 Nursing Interns or new staff. Serves on shared governance committee, POD committee or EBP workgroup. Applies knowledge related to emergency situations and surgical procedures in the operating room. Understands the principles of medical and surgical asepsis; recognizes and communicates breaks in aseptic technique.
