Job Summary

Treat actual or potential health problems using the nursing diagnosis and case management. Teach, counsel and provide supportive care to the patient and their significant others

Essential Functions

  • Interviews patient (if possible) and/or family to obtain required history and make an accurate assessment.
  • Assigns a triage priority based on observations and available information.
  • Initiates diagnostic and therapeutic measures as indicated by standing protocols.
  • Calls for crisis intervention if appropriate.
  • Communicates and acts as liaison between the patient, family, and health professionals in a manner that respects confidentiality and dignity.
  • Coordinates the needs of the patient with supporting departments and assists in solving problems related to the welfare of patient and staff.
  • Charts concisely, descriptively, and legibly indicating patient’s progress or lack or progress.
  • Performs nursing procedures safely and efficiently.
  • Demonstrates understanding of, and adheres to, the hospital’s infection control protocols.
  • Demonstrates compliance with exiting standards and policies.

Minimum Education/Certifications

Graduate of an accredited program in nursing.

Current Registered Nurse license to practice in the state of NJ.

Certifications required: BLS (American Heart Association),

ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support. IV Certification preferred.

Minimum Work Experience

2 year or more experience in an acute care setting preferred. Critical care experience preferred

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Must be willing to work holidays, weekends and provide additional coverage as needed
