Job Description Summary:

A Nurse Practitioner, Supervisor is a licensed professional, who assumes responsibility and authority for the management, administration, and coordination of nursing in the agency in accordance with the company standards and policies as well as state, federal and accrediting body guidelines. The Nurse Practitioner Supervisor is responsible for providing and overseeing complete patient assessment, care planning, patient, and caregiver education, evaluating progress toward goals and recommendations for changes in the plan of care. Nurse Practitioner, Supervisors specialize in Specialty and preventative care, conduct check-ups, treat illnesses, order lab tests, prescribe medication, oversee infusion administration, and assure accuracy of all medications provided for children and adults. The Nurse Practitioner Supervisor additional competencies allow for independence in the practice of the specialty and positions the Nurse practitioner Supervisor, to train and oversee pertinent competencies with team. Nurse Practitioner Supervisor assumes responsibility and authority for the management, administration, and coordination of nursing in the agency in accordance with the company standards and policies as well as state, federal and accrediting body guidelines. Clinical competency is maintained by providing direct patient care 20-40% of the time. In a Medicare Certified agency, this position may also serve as the alternate administrator and or alternate director of nursing. Nurse Practitioner, Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Director of Operations and/or Area Director of Nursing in meeting operational and financial goals for the location.

**The Nurse Supervisor/Nurse Manager/Regional Nurse Manager, Director, Nursing, or a designated registered nurse (RN) acting on their behalf, must be physically present on the premises or immediately accessible via telecommunication at all times during operating hours when patients are receiving infusion services.**

Job Description:

Job Responsibilities (listed in order of importance and/or time spent)

  • Oversees clinical staff to maximize work efficiency using computers and other automation technologies to validate plan of treatment, communicate patient care provided, and confirming/optimizing the visit schedule.

  • Initiates emergency procedures as necessary within scope of practice alerting and notifying the appropriate personnel or emergency responders.
  • Accepts accountability for own practice through ethical and professional conduct.
  • Maintains all required payer credentialing as indicated by location and service line including governmental payers (i.e. Medicare, Medicaid).
  • Provider NPI and DEA will be used for inventory account(s) creation and medication ordering. Manages inventory through established protocols. Manages formulary per Option Care Infusion Suite’s guidelines.
  • Actively participates in the facility’s Continuous Quality Improvement program for Option Care Infusion Suites
  • Participates in multidisciplinary team conferences and provides mentoring to other Nurse Practitioners, MA and RN for orientation and supervisory activities as assigned.                                                
  • Effectively provides oversight and coordination of both clinicians and paraprofessionals in the infusion clinic setting and may act as the Supervisor as applicable in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Establishes and oversees all clinical on-call responsibilities.
  • Competent in the clinical management of infusion patients including Patient management skills, the Nursing Process, the rules of Federal, state, and local regulatory entities that oversee and control the provision of care in a health care setting.
  • Knowledgeable of documentation and billing requirements for home health/ infusion care goods and services
  • Acts as Administrator and/or Director of Nursing of the Medicare Certified Agency and or Home Health Agency in the absence of Director of Operation and or Area Director of Nursing.
  • Manages daily activities with regards to effective operations and communications and ensures the office remains in compliance with all regulating and accreditation entities. Complies with reporting requirements, ensures policy and procedure, compliance and monitors and evaluates medical supply usage.
  • Develops, implements, evaluates, and participates in office specific continuing education and orientation programs. Assists the Director of Operations, Area Director of Nursing and/or the Assist in the recruitment, development, and monitoring of new staff. Coordinates and participates in on-call responsibilities. Maintains confidentiality of patient and proprietary information
  • Participates as a member of or directs the professional advisory committee, infection prevention and process improvement teams, including conducting chart audits. Identifies opportunities for improvement and communicates to the Nurse Manager, Area Director of Nursing and/or Director of Operations. Speaks knowledgeably of the scope of services that are available through Option Care and provides support to sales professionals on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintains agency compliance with state and federal guidelines for disciplines. Serves as administrator in the absence of the Operations Manager and/or Director of Operations. Serves as the Administrator and/or Director of Nursing of the agency per Medicare Conditions of Participation definition. Serves as Facility Infection Prevention Coordinator, ensuring compliance with regulations, rules, and standards as they relate to infection control practices.
  • Coordinates all patient care and services in cooperation with the Director of Pharmacy. Facilitates a clinical networking system for the agency and acts as a clinical resource. Meets all standards as outlined in Nurse Practitioner, Infusion Suites, job descriptions.

Basic Education and/or Experience Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure
  • Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area
  • Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); PALS provider card as required by department and facility
  • Minimum of 1 year APN experience in a clinical setting
  • Previous infusion therapy experience required.
  • Active, unrestricted state license and DEA registration required

Basic Qualifications

  • Effective verbal, written and electronic communication skills

  • Required certification in CPR.
  • Experience applying knowledge of local, State, Federal, accrediting body, and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Experience in the indirect management of team members, including assisting in the development, training, and assignment of work/projects to other members of a team.
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: opening a document, cutting, pasting, and aligning text, selecting font type and size, changing margins and column width, sorting, inserting bullets, pictures and dates, using find and replace, undo, spell check, track changes, review pane and/or print functions).
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: opening a workbook, inserting a row, selecting font style and size, formatting cells as currency, using copy, paste and save functions, aligning text, selecting cells, renaming a worksheet, inserting a column, selecting a chart style, inserting a worksheet, setting margins, selecting page orientation, using spell check and/or printing worksheets).
  • Basic skill level in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: inserting, rearranging, hiding, and deleting slides, navigating between slides, increasing list level, adding, centering and editing text, changing views, inserting a table or a note, moving objects, printing outline view and/or running a slide show).
  • Experience developing ways of accomplishing goals with little or no supervision, depending on oneself to complete objectives and determining when escalation of issues is necessary.
  • Will maintain active ACLS and PALS certification.
  • Experience in providing training and developing the clinical services process, documentation/user manuals

Travel Requirements:  (if required)

  • Ability to travel between local infusion centers, as needed.
  • Willing to travel at least 50% of the time for business purposes.

Preferred Qualifications & Interests (PQIs)

  • Experience with the oversight and administration of Infusion drugs
  • Previous telehealth experience
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience in a hospital or home health care setting is preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in the indirect management of team members, including assisting in the development, training, and assignment of work/projects to other team members is preferred.

Salary to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Pay Range is $129,386.61-$215,629.34
