The Assistant Chief Nursing Officer develops department goals, objectives, standards of performance, policies and procedures, and organizes the department in accordance with administrative guidelines.  The ACNO functions in an advisory capacity to administration in evaluating proposed procedural changes as they relate to patient care.  This position directs the implementation and ensures compliance with the Standard of Nursing Practice and regulatory compliance that promotes optimum health care delivery.

Qualifications

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Licensure: Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the state of CA.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a CCNE accredited nursing program; Masters level or incumbent to Master's prepared required.
  • Experience as a Registered Nurse in a psychiatric setting required; Minimum 2 years in nursing management role required.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of behavioral health nursing clinical practices and management.
  • Extensive knowledge of principles and practices relevant to nursing and patient care activities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices.  Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Three or more years of progressive nursing management experience in behavioral health setting preferred

The Charge Nurse will assume responsibility and accountability for the quality of nursing activities and staff functions during their shift. The Charge Nurse provides direct and indirect care in the Intensive Care setting. Under general direction of the Nursing Department Leadership, will serve as a resource person, organizes, plans, directs with focus of providing high quality individualized patient care. The Charge Nurse will monitor compliance with formulated a plan of care to meet the identified needs of patient/family/significant others using the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with established philosophy provided by the staff Registered Nurse, assess care and direct staff for immediate response to changes in condition or response to treatment. Consistently monitor and evaluates patient outcomes and modifies plan of care and participates in the coordination of continuum of care. Effectively utilizes nursing personnel, time and direct patient care, within the scope of practice. The Board of Registered Nursing for the state of California defines the nature of the direction and supervision required. Requirements: Minimum Experience: Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred. At least, three (3) years of experience in ICU/CCU preferred. Skills: Patient Assessment, Critical thinking, documentation, and communication. Assumes shift responsibility and accountability for the plan of care.
