Job Summary

The Medical Assistant II (MA II) is an experienced unlicensed healthcare professional who performs routine technical services within the medical practice settings under the supervision of the physician and the department’s leadership staff. The associate in this role possesses knowledge and skills to function efficiently in the back office and has a solid understanding of clinic operations. The associate in this role functions in an independent manner within the scope of their duties. May also assist in front office as needed. Participates in projects / executing initiatives at the direction of management.

Pay Range

Minimum $23.00 Midpoint $29.64 Maximum $36.28

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

• Required: Minimum three (3) years of back-office MA experience with at least 1 year in a pediatric setting

• Preferred:

Education

• Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent. Graduate of a vocational school having successfully completed requirements for MA.

• Preferred: Certification in Medical Assisting including Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)

• Required: Knowledge and ability to provide appropriate patient care depending on age, cultural, and spiritual needs. Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards. Effectively solve patient care and operational problems. Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English effectively at a level appropriate for the safe and effective performance of the job. Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area. Proficient in medical terminology.

• Preferred: Bilingual in English/Spanish.

Licensure

• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS); Medical Assistant Diploma.

Work Environments - Functional Demand:

Medium - High energy level Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Push/pull +/- 150-200 lbs. (Patients on bed, stretcher) Lateral transfer 150-200 lbs. (ie. Patient) .
