Job Description Summary:

Support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks that are vital to patient care. Medical Assistants must adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. They are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion during all interactions.

Schedule: full time position. Will travel to Orland Park, Frankfort, & South Holland. Potential travel to Sykes, Imani Village and Southeast locations

As a Medical Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in the care team – supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day. 

As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will:

  • Welcome patients and support their transition into care.
  • Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed.
  • Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.
  • Document care accurately in the electronic health record.
  • Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.

About This Location:

Our main location is in the Medical Office Center at 17850 S Kedzie Ave., Suite 3100, in Hazel Crest, IL, with additional locations in Orland Park, South Holland, and Frankfort, IL. Our practice includes seven providers, four OB/GYN physicians, one gynecologist, two Advanced Practice Nurses and a dedicated social worker. We provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care to women of all ages. In office procedures include colposcopy, endometrial biopsy, LEEP and hysteroscopy.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
  • Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
  • Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
  • Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.
  • May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
  • Physical Abilities Testing may be required.

Required Qualifications: A completed High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited body A current certificate of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training Must have phlebotomy experience Experience working in a community health setting Completion of a certified/registered program for medical assistants that is recognized by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross Preferred Qualifications: Considerable skill in communicating verbally, in determining priorities, and in organizing work; ability to maintain an organized, alphabetized filing system General working knowledge of a PC. Excel, Microsoft Word for Windows, OASIS, and EPIC Computerized appointment scheduling experience Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced environment Considerable skill in handling sensitive public contacts with discretion, tact, and courtesy when dealing with patients, coworkers, and physicians Physical ability to perform stocking, lifting, and transporting supplies and instruments Experience in oncology, ambulatory care, or acute care setting preferred Phlebotomy experience strongly preferred Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-based environment Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Position Details: Job Type/FTE: Full Time (1.0 FTE) Shift: Days – 8-hour shift Unit/Department: Oncology Rapid Assessment Clinic (ORAC) CBA Code: Non-Union In this role, we anticipate that you will generally work approximately 40 hours per week. We anticipate that you will generally be scheduled to work the Day shift, from approximately 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, and will not be scheduled for on-call shifts. We anticipate you will be scheduled to work 100% at the Hyde Park campus. The days of the week that you are scheduled will be Monday-Friday. You will not be scheduled to work on weekends.
