Provides nursing support to the physician and provides direct nursing care to patients in an inpatient setting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 

1. Must possess current, temporary license as required by state board where services will be provided:

*Permanent License must be obtained prior to expiration of the temporary permit. 

MD: No temporary permit issued. Must obtain a permanent license through the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) within 90 days of graduation. 

OH: No temporary permit issuedHiring unlicensed nurses into graduate nursing roles is not permitted in the State of OhioOhio Nurses must hold current licensure. 

PA: Current Graduate Practical Nurse Permit.  Must obtain permanent licensure from the Pennsylvania Board of Nursing within one (1) year of graduation.  

WV: Current Graduate Practical Nurse Permit. Must obtain permanent licensure through the WV Board of Practical Nursing within 90 days of graduation.  

2. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE: 

1. One (1) year of clinical experience.

2. Performs designated therapeutic procedures to assigned patients as needed.
3. Accurately observes, records and reports to the overseeing role, all patient concerns, symptoms, reactions and progress in a timely manner.
4. Assists physicians and the overseeing role with examinations and procedures, as assigned.
5. Contributes to the nursing assessment by collecting, reporting and recording objective and subjective data.
6. Observes the condition or change in condition of the patient, records signs and symptoms of deviation from normal health status and reports findings to the overseeing role.
7. Participates in the development of the patient’s plan of care by providing data, contributing to the identification of priorities and assisting in the identification of measures to maintain comfort and support human functions and responses.
8. Assists in assigned patient and family education and rehabilitation by reviewing patient needs with the overseeing role and following the teaching plan.
9. Documents nursing interventions and responses to care, communicating to appropriate members of the health care team.
10. Accurately and safely administers intramuscular, subcutaneous, IV, oral, nebulization and/or MDI delivered medications as assigned.
11. Obtains instruction and supervision as necessary from the overseeing role when implementing nursing technique or practices.

4. Ability to function as a team member in respect to organization, communication, and task prioritization. Must also be able to work weekends, holidays and all shifts.

TCAT LPN Graduates Thanks for reaching out! T.C.A 63-7-110 (d) (1) (states: (1) Notwithstanding a law to the contrary, a graduate practical nurse may engage in the practice of practical nursing without a license for a period not to exceed one hundred twenty (120) calendar days from the date of receipt of the first authorization to take the NCLEX-PN examination if: (A) The graduate practical nurse's practice occurs in a healthcare institution licensed under title 33 or 68, or an affiliate of the institution; (B) The graduate practical nurse is at all times working under the supervision of an individual licensed in this state to practice as a professional or registered nurse. The graduate practical nurse shall provide the healthcare institution or affiliate of the institution in which the nurse is practicing with the following: (i) Proof of the first authorization to take the NCLEX-PN examination; and (ii) Proof of graduation from an approved school of nursing within the previous ninety (90) days; (C) The supervising individual described in subdivision (d)(1)(B) is limited to supervising no more than one (1) graduate practical nurse at a time; and (D) The graduate practical nurse is prohibited from: (i) Being deemed a licensed practical nurse pursuant to this section; and (ii) Using another title or identifying as anything but a “ graduate practical nurse” in a clinical setting. (2) As used in this subsection (d): (A) “ Graduate practical nurse” means an individual who: (i) Holds a diploma or degree from an approved school of nursing that entitles the individual to take the NCLEX-PN licensing examination; and (ii) Has received authorization to take the NCLEX-PN examination; (B) “NCLEX-PN” means the national council licensure examination for practical nurses ; and (C) “Supervision” means that the graduate practical nurse's supervising individual is located in the same unit as the graduate practical nurse when the graduate practical nurse is performing duties pursuant to this subsection (d).
