Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in initial examination of obstetrical patient, and in collaboration with the MD, shares responsibility for care, treatment, and delivery of patient  
  • Examines patient during pregnancy, utilizing physical findings, laboratory test results and patient's statements to evaluate condition and ensure that patient's progress is normal  
  • Discusses case with Obstetrician to assure observation of specified practices  
  • Instructs patient in diet and prenatal health practices  
  • Stays with patient during labor to reassure patient and to administer medication  
  • Delivers infant and performs postpartum examinations and treatments to ensure that patient and infant are responding normally

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree and Midwifery certificate  
  • Completion of Midwifery, Completion of Midwifery Education Program  
  • Four years of clinical Midwifery experience, required with references  
  • Current NYS Midwife License and AMCB certification  

 


Compensation for this specialty generally ranges from $117,500 - $165,500 annually. Total cash compensation includes base pay and bonus and is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience and may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable. The Certified Nurse Midwife may be asked to complete administrative tasks for MHMN, and sit on relevant hospital committees as the OB representative. Job Requirements, Prerequisites and Essential Functions: Pay Range: $80.00 - $92.50 - $110.00 Essential Functions and Responsibilities: The CNM, in collaboration with the Hospitalists on the shift, will provide appropriate care within the scope of midwifery protocols to all of the OB patients in MarinHealth Medical Center. Provide prenatal care, labor management, and postpartum care for patients in accordance with standardized procedures and protocols and in consultation with a physician. Use advanced knowledge of and specialized skills in midwifery to manage normal childbirth and provide antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum care. Takes patients' medical, social and obstetric history; performs physical, vaginal, breast, clinical pelvimetry and general health status OB and GYN exams; orders and/or performs approved laboratory and diagnostic exams, consulting with and/or referring complications to a physician. Perform limited sonography; first trimester dating and viability assessment, third trimester AFIs and fetal position confirmation. Orders medications per midwifery protocols; documents care rendered in patient electronic health record; evaluates patient progress; consults with other members of the health care team to develop and manage care and follow-up plans.
