The Rapid Response Nurse provides immediate, expert-level care to patients experiencing clinical deterioration throughout the hospital. Operating out of coverage, this role supports units as needed, quickly assessing and stabilizing patients, assisting with emergency interventions, and guiding staff during high-acuity situations. The nurse collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and prevent code events.

What We're Looking For

  • Education:  High School Diploma or GED, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
  • Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
    • ENPC, TNCC or CEN; preferred.
    • NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire, required.

A dedicated charge nurse supports the unit without a patient assignment. The unit is equipped to monitor and trend heart rhythms and other hemodynamic pressures. Care of patients on ventilators, noninvasive ventilation with BiPAP or CPAP, and heated high flow oxygen delivery. Titrating medication IV drips to ordered parameters and the ability to follow protocols and order sets.
