Associate Nurse Manager, Interventional Radiology - Interventional Radiology - FT 1.0 (80 hrs biweekly) (71379)

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Associate Nurse Manager (ANM), Interventional Radiology is responsible for managing and supervising activities in Radiology and Interventional Radiology. The ANM supports safe, efficient delivery of minimally invasive, image-guided procedures and ensures effective coordination of patient care across pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure phases. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and always exercises strict confidentiality.

 

Job Functions:

1. Provides operational leadership for the assigned patient care area during designated shifts to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality patient care and appropriate staffing.
2. Coordinates daily clinical operations by managing patient flow, staffing assignments, patient acuity, and resource utilization to support quality outcomes and operational efficiency.
3. Provides direct clinical support and serves as a clinical resource for nursing staff, assisting with complex patient care situations, emergencies, and staffing needs.
4. Promotes safe, evidence-based nursing practice by monitoring compliance with clinical standards, regulatory requirements, infection prevention practices, and organizational policies.
5. Monitors patient care quality through clinical rounding, chart audits, quality reviews, incident follow-up, and implementation of corrective actions to improve outcomes.
6. Supports workforce development by participating in recruitment, onboarding, orientation, competency validation, coaching, performance feedback, and annual performance evaluations.
7. Assists with workforce management by participating in scheduling, staffing adjustments, attendance management, and productivity oversight to meet patient care needs.
8. Addresses patient, family, physician, and employee concerns promptly and professionally to promote service excellence and effective problem resolution.
9. Provides supervisory oversight by exercising delegated supervisory authority, including recommendations regarding hiring, performance management, corrective action, and employee relations in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.
10. Functions in designated leadership roles, including Charge Nurse, Nursing Supervisor, Team Leader, or other operational leadership assignments as required.
11. Facilitates communication and coordination among interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care, effective care transitions, and achievement of departmental objectives.
12. Participates in organizational quality, safety, regulatory, and performance improvement initiatives, including leadership rounding, committee participation, and implementation of system priorities.
13. Maintains clinical competence and leadership proficiency through required education, professional development, leadership training, and ongoing competency validation.
14. Provides direct patient care as needed, including assessment, development and implementation of the nursing plan of care, patient and family education, documentation, and evaluation of patient outcomes in accordance with professional standards.
15. Coordinates daily operations of Interventional Radiology services by managing procedural schedules, case prioritization, room utilization, and workflow to optimize patient throughput and resource utilization.
16. Collaborates with radiologists, procedural physicians, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary teams to improve procedural efficiency, optimize on-time starts, reduce room turnover, and facilitate emergent and add-on procedures.
17. Coordinates nursing coverage across Diagnostic Imaging services to ensure appropriate clinical support for Interventional Radiology, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, and other imaging modalities during routine operations, after-hours, weekends, and emergency situations.
18. Supports operational readiness for Interventional Radiology services, including extended hours, on-call coverage, emergent procedural response, and resource coordination for time-sensitive interventions.
19. Collaborates with Diagnostic Imaging leadership to align Interventional Radiology operations with departmental objectives, strategic initiatives, capital planning, technology implementation, and service expansion.
20. Coordinates specialty supply and equipment management by monitoring procedural inventory, specialty devices, and supply utilization to support uninterrupted clinical operations.
21. Provides clinical oversight of procedural nursing care for Interventional Radiology patients, including invasive procedures, moderate sedation, physiologic monitoring, and post-procedure recovery in accordance with organizational standards.
22. Maintains procedural readiness for high-acuity patient care by ensuring appropriate response to procedural emergencies, including hemorrhage, airway compromise, contrast reactions, and other procedure-related complications.
23. Serves as a clinical resource and consultant for complex Interventional Radiology procedures, specialty nursing practice, and procedural problem-solving.
24. Ensures compliance with specialty practice standards, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards applicable to Diagnostic Imaging and Interventional Radiology services, including radiation safety, contrast safety, infection prevention, and procedural quality.
25. Monitors specialty-specific clinical and operational performance indicators to identify opportunities for improving procedural quality, patient safety, access, throughput, and patient outcomes.
26. Coordinates patient progression throughout the Interventional Radiology care continuum by facilitating efficient patient preparation, procedural readiness, recovery, discharge planning, and coordination with emergency, inpatient, and outpatient services.
27. Performs other leadership and clinical responsibilities necessary to support departmental and organizational operations.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

• Current licensure in the State of Ohio or if working in WV will need WV Licensure as a Registered Nurse required.
• BSN preferred.
• 2 years of Interventional Radiology experience required.
• Minimum of three years of clinical experience preferred.
• Current BLS required.
• ACLS within 1 year of employment required.
• Maintains compliance in RQI and Attends leadership classes/ Frontline 50 required.
