We are seeking a dedicated RN School Nurse to join Milwaukee Public Schools for the 20262027 school year. This is a full-time, school-based nursing opportunity with an assignment at one school site.

Position Details

  • Orientation: August 25, 2026
  • Assignment Dates: September 1, 2026 June 15, 2027
  • Hours: 37.5 hours/week
  • Most schools start at either 7:30 AM or 8:00 AM
  • Assigned to 1 school site
  • Candidates must be willing to accept an assignment anywhere within Milwaukee
  • A specific school preference cannot be guaranteed based on district staffing needs

Responsibilities

  • Manage the school health room
  • Provide nursing care to students
  • Perform wound care and other nursing interventions
  • Administer medications
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health needs
  • Maintain and review vaccination and health records
  • Monitor student health and respond to medical needs
  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and other healthcare professionals

Requirements

  • Active Wisconsin RN License
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university
  • CPR and AED certification
  • 1+ year of pediatric experience preferred
  • Valid Wisconsin drivers license
  • Must have worked as an RN within the last 2 years, or completed a refresher course within the last year
  • Must be physically able to perform all job duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds
